VISIT INDIA YEAR 2023: Incredible India initiative

Discover true INDIA

“The India I Love, does not make the headlines, but I find it wherever I go – in a field or forest, town or village, mountain or desert – and in the hearts and minds of people who have given me love and affection for the better part of my lifetime.” ~ Ruskin Bond

India, a land of spirituality, science and soul! Our rich and diverse culture has attracted many philosophers, scientists, leaders, individuals, in the past and continues to do so. When there was no internet, by word of mouth, India’s greatness was reaching places. Now, with advanced technology and social media, the outreach is beyond. People travel to our mystic and majestic land in search of knowledge, spirituality, science, peace, and above all humanity.

The Govt of India, Tourism Ministry, is exhibiting remarkable and noteworthy presence in the world through Incredible India movement. “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” is the principle every Bhartiya practices, irrespective of their background. “Atithi Devo Bhava” is the belief in every household in India. The logo of “Visit India Year 2023” resonates well with these two very profound thoughts. And it is a moment of pride, when the Tourism Ministry of India is taking it to the global platform with ownership, responsibility, understanding and consciousness.

There was a time we were looked down upon and were expected to follow world leaders. Now the greatness of India touches many hearts all over the world because of her simplicity, beliefs, culture, heritage, ancient knowledge, and enlightenment.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) launched the Visit India Year 2023 initiative and unveiled its logo at New Delhi today, kicking off the year of grand plans and activities for promoting tourism in India. On the occasion, the Union Minister for Tourism said that today the logo of Visit India Year 2023 is being launched and this is an important year as India is hosting G20. The Union Minister also said that more than one lakh foreign delegates will visit India this year and they will be showcased the entire gamut of India's Culture, including monuments and festivals. Shri G. Kishan Reddy added that each foreign delegate of G20 will be a brand ambassador of India's culture, heritage and tourist destinations. Shri Kishan Reddy further stated that the Ministry of Tourism is coordinating with Indian missions and other stakeholders to have a conducive environment for foreign visitors this year.

This year is marked for inbound travel concomitant to global effects on tourism post COVID.

With G20, as pointed out by the tourism ministry of India, all the foreign delegates will witness and take it forward with them the rich and diverse culture of India.

Atithi Devo Bhava! Keeping this thought in mind, let’s welcome tourists from across the globe and from India, with the same fervor and warmth to make VISIT INDIA YEAR 2023 a memorable and remarkable year. It will be enriching for both the parties, the hosts and the guests to meet and greet. Let us keep our hearts and home open for travelers. When we meet people from different places, we get to know a completely different world, a different culture, and much more, we become part of their life and they take some space in our hearts. That is what travel does, becoming and unbecoming, learning and unlearning, a fresh new perspective, yes….. it gives us a new perspective of life allowing us to grow and excel.

The Tourism Ministry is aiming to increase the revenue in the field, globally the contribution from tourism is  approx. 10%, whereas in India, according to the latest data, it was 5.8% only. There is a huge gap and much larger scope to achieve the given numbers. Post pandemic people have understood the need for traveling, in the moment, rather than saving for later. Many lives have fallen, dreams shattered, goals scattered due to the pandemic. It is indeed an eye opening hard hitting truth that one needs to accept; Tomorrow Never Comes! This realisation has given the boost in tourism and hospitality industry globally. People are looking for meaningful, burden free and sustainable ways to travel.

India is one of the top most destinations around the world to offer a multitude of reasons with magnificent destinations to travelers from across the globe. The rich Geography of India offers magnificent options under one roof, so to speak; mountains, rivers, plains, sand-dunes, adventure, wellness, village tourism, and enjoy different seasons in contrasting destinations; in winters visit sunny beaches down South, in summers plan a pleasant vacation in hill station. And now India is exhibiting sustainable development where one can witness infrastructure comfort in big cities and villages. Improved standards of infrastructure is another big reason for travelers to visit India to witness the world class facilities.
